Why your computer gets slow?

Running of background Programs

One common reasons for your computer getting slow is because of  programs running in the background. You must therefore remove or disable any TSRs and startup programs that automatically start each time the computer boots. To know about background programs which are running you can find it out from the Task Manager.

Temporary files getting created

As and when your computer runs programs, temporary files get stored on the hard drive. These may be one of the causes for your computer getting slow. So you need to find these out and delete them from time to time. In case you are using windows, you could make use of the "Disk Clean up" to delete temporary files.

Determine and free hard disk space

Lack of space in the hard disk of your computer could also be a possible reason for your computer to become slow. So you need to get rid of unused files to free up hard disk space.

Bad Corrupted or fragmented hard drive

With a corrupted or fragmented hard drive you computer could get slow as well. So you need to run scan disk or check disk to rectify the same.

Viruses or malware

Today no computer is used in isolation. With the internet your computer gets repeatedly threatened by the numerous computer viruses and malware. Thus without the right antivirus software which can provide complete protection, you computer mat often get affected with the same. Amongst the various indications for the same your computer getting slow is one indication. So you must not only have the right antivirus but have them updated to give you complete protection.

Lack of update of windows and drivers

In case you are using the windows as an operating system for your computer, you must make sure that the same is updated regularly, failing which it may lead to your computer getting slow. Apart from this the drivers of your computer installed needs to be updated as well. 

Memory upgrade

In case you have had your computer is more than two years old, it might need more memory. Currently it is best that computers have a minimum of 1GB of memory (RAM) for 32-bit system and 2GB for a 64-bit system. With it this you can hope that it would get faster.
